Prada

Created by Mario and his brother Martino Prada in 1913, the brand began as a leather goods shop named Fratelli Prada (Prada Brothers). The quality of their products made them a sought-after supplier to the Italian Royal House in 1919. Their fortunes changed for the better when Mario's granddaughter, Miuccia, joined the brand in the 1970s. Patrizio Bertelli joined the company in 1977. The brand then diversified the product line to include footwear, womenswear, menswear, handbags, perfumery, watches, fine jewelry, eyewear, and more. It is said that 20% of the brand's range is made in China. The balance is made in Italy and a few other European countries. Interestingly, this high-end luxury brand once owned controlling shares in Gucci but eventually sold them to LVMH.
