The brand was founded in 1921 by Italian Guccio Gucci (1881–1953). It did not take long for them to become a household name. In the 1980s, family feuds caused internal upheavals. This eventually resulted in the brand being acquired by French conglomerate Kering (previously known as Pinault Printemps Redoute) in 1999. Starting in the 2010s, the company made a name for itself as an iconic ‘geek-chic’ brand. Now firmly established in pop culture, the brand enjoys celebrity endorsements, and more. A high-end luxury fashion brand based in Italy, the company's product lines include ready-to-wear, accessories and watches, footwear, fragrances, cosmetics (as Gucci Beauty), and home decoration.
